Inspired by wonderful and slightly eccentric history teachers and after her own foray as a teacher, Anna found herself drawn to the world of museums. Her great passion is people and their stories and how museums can best craft an experience that reveals something intrinsic and true of those lives. As curator of Susannah Place Museum Anna fell in love with the everyday stories of the people of The Rocks and how their lives echoed similar stories in all of our lives. In her new role as City Portfolio curator she hopes to make real and memorable connections with today’s visitors and the people and stories of the past.
Anna’s book, A place in The Rocks celebrates Sydney’s oldest suburb through the stories of its street life and the residents of Susannah Place “with tenderness and integrity… absorbing its spirit … gently coaxing out its ghosts” (Peter Watts AM).
